Barr Foundation

The Barr Foundation’s mission is to invest in human, natural, and creative potential, serving as thoughtful stewards and catalysts. Based in Boston, the Foundation focuses regionally, and selectively engages nationally, working in partnership with nonprofits, foundations, the public sector, and civic and business leaders to elevate the arts and creative expression, advance equitable solutions for climate change, and expand educational opportunity.

Our climate, health, and equity work is most focused on:

Clean energy, climate resilience, and mobility.

This is important because:

We recognize that linking the issues of climate, COVID-19, and racial equity will be essential to prevent backsliding on existing climate protections and to enable a renewed focus on the important public health benefits of climate action.

In our climate, health, and equity work, we connect with other funders through:

The Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA), The Funders Network (TFN), and the Climate and Energy Funders Group (CEFG).
