Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts

The Institute builds measurably healthier and more equitable communities through community engagement, collaborative partnerships, research and evaluation, and policy advocacy. We convene the Live Well Springfield Coalition, which is a coalition of over 30 organizations working together to build and sustain a culture of health in Springfield, including climate justice, and dedicated to working at policy, systems, and environmental levels to ensure lasting and equitable change as well as undoing systemic racism.

Our climate, health, and equity work is most focused on:

Building community engagement to integrate clean energy options at a city-wide level as well as to address systemic racism issues in the city.

This is important because:

Without community members speaking out and taking leadership on the issues that concern them, we cannot create a process that leads to transformational change.
