Strong, Prosperous, And Resilient Communities Challenge (SPARCC)

SPARCC is working to change the way we invest in and shape our cities and communities by promoting racial justice, public health, and climate resilience. The initiative advocates for policies and investments that ensure self-determination and community-led decision making, giving residents a greater role in shaping their futures.

Our climate, health, and equity work is most focused on:

Eradicating policies and practices that perpetuate inequitable systems leading to a myriad of health, housing, economic, and environmental disparities. The initiative works to create new programs and investment policies that reduce racial disparities, build a culture of health, and respond to the climate crisis—with a focus on low-income, Black, Brown, Indigenous and all people of color.

This is important because:

The way we have shaped our cities has had a major impact on racial justice in America. We can create a more racially just, prosperous future for communities by supporting their ability to define their future and by putting racial justice, public health, and environmental considerations at the heart of every decision on how we plan and invest.
